Learn the art with Camrose Tai Chi

Tai Chi  & Qigong Instruction

From young to old, from super fit to not done anything for years, tai chi or qigong are for you. The soft gentle arts with surprising and explosive effects. Movement, poise, balance and the inner harmony of yin and yang forces melding mind, body and spirit.

In our teaching we emphasise the therapeutic aspects of the arts rather than their marshal applications.

If you want to know why the parks in China are full of people doing these exercises, give it a try - you will not be disappointed.

For the Love of the Art

As a registered Tai Chi Instructor I have trained with a number of the experts in the UK and beyond. I am a member of the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain, and of the International Bodhidharma Chi Kung Society.  I have the privilege of having Carl Bateman of Sleeping Lion Taijiquan, the most senior instructor in Sun Style Tai Chi Chuan in the UK, as a Tai Chi Master, and Yeshe Gyatso as a Meditation and Qigong master. I have trained for many years with Sue Murfin, the founder of Camrose Tai Chi. Sue is now stepping back from regular teaching, but will remain as a mentor. It is my privilege to continue what she began here in Pembrokeshire.

Camrose Tai Chi operates on a not-for-profit basis, aiming simply to cover our costs. Any annual surpluses are donated to Water Aid.

Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong are ancient practices that have led to improved health, fitness, wellbeing and longevity for many people.

They both cultivate the Qi, – the life energy that flows through the body’s energy pathways – by combining movement, breathing and meditation.

Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong have in common the same basic property (Qi), the same fundamental principle (relaxation), and the same fundamental method (slow, soft movements).

Tai Chi Chuan is distinct to Qigong regarding how the form is practised – it takes more space – how the energy is manipulated and how the body posture is conditioned – however, they deeply compliment each other.

Qigong only needs the space you stand up in, making it ideal for integrating it into daily life and as a foundation for meditation. Tai chi teaches how to apply the benefits of qigong to movement.
